The artist Michael Beitz took a radical turn to the idea of a distressed dining table to create his sculpture not now. This is a piece of wood 8 meters long at the ends like a common table, but in the center is a “knot” which prevents people sitting on it can communicate.
This visual obstruction amid not now can be seen as an allegory of the communication problems that exist in the world’s households either lack of time or desire by both subjects.
